Bio-essence Royal Jelly and ATP Series, Hot or Not? Review and Giveaway! [GIVEAWAY, REVIEW, VIDEO]

Olla everyone!

The Christmas season is coming and as I've written in my last post I'm going to have a giveaway for the Nourishing Deep Cleanser and a small depoted pot of the Face Lifting Cream!

Yay!!!! More details and rules of the giveaway will be posted below!

Now my pretties on to the review...
The Bio-essense Royal Jelly and ATP (Adenosine Triphoshate) Series
contains:
  • Deep Cleansing Milk
  • Deep Exfoliating Gel
  • Nourishing Deep Cleanser (Dry to Normal Skin)
  • Nourishing Foamy Cleanser (Oily to Normal Skin)
  • Radiant Youth Essence (a type of serum)
  • Face Lifting Cream (moisturiser)

For more information on these products check out my previous post

In a nutshell:

This series contains Royal Jelly and ATP. While I'm not really that well versed in how ATP truly works when applied topically or convinced that it actually benefits the skin when used topically (this means its not ingested a.k.a eaten, just applied on the skin/surface). I am a great believer that honey in all its form works on both the hair and skin.

However I do advise caution! Some people maybe allergic to honey even if its only applied topically as opposed to consuming it.

Royal Jelly's benefit for me in this series of products acted highly as a anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant.

What is anti-inflammatory?
It's a property of a substance in this case Royal Jelly that reduces inflammation. This means it helps reduce the redness on the face, and helps calm down angry spots such as sunburn, broken pimple, irritated skin etc.

What is anti-oxidant?
It's a property of a substance that is effective in combating free radicals and reducing it. Most of the effect of anti-oxidant is not seen immediately but over time.

Most (but not all) anti-oxidants provides UVA/UVB protection, stimulate the production of collagen, alleviate inflammation, protect against free radical damage and neutralize reactive oxygen species.

To me it means it help combats ageing (lines, crow's feet, hyperpigmentation, etc) = anti-ageing

The next question you are going to ask me is what are free radicals?
Well the human skin (us) is contantly exposed to either air, environmental pollutants, solar radiation and other mechanical and chemical agents. All of which are capable inducing the generation of free radicals in us. Our outer skin can also be damaged by other factors such as physical and psychological stress, alcohol intake, poor nutrition, overeating, pollution, UV rays and the list goes on.

Deep Cleansing Milk

Pros: Love it! It takes off light to medium make up like a dream. May require a second application for thick/heavy make up. It even removes mascara and eyeliner. Good to use with any skin type.

Cons: Cannot remove eyeliner that is applied on the roots of the eyelash, that might require a targeted eye make-up remover. I even tried it by applying some product on a cotton bud. The eyeliner did not work unless I rubbed and that is a big no-no!

Deep Exfoliating Gel

Pros: My one true love! It works like magic and removes the dead skin from your face without pulling and scratching your skin as some grainy exfoliators tend to do. Good to use with any skin type.

Cons: None!
Nourishing Foamy Cleanser (oily to normal skin)

Pros: Face feels squeaky clean but hydrated after wash without the skin feeling tight as if its pulling. Good for oily to normal skin but I wound not use this without the Deep Cleansing Gel at each use.

Cons: Only feels squeaky clean if its used with the Deep Cleansing Gel. I've tried this product twice with out the Deep Cleansing Gel and the skin felt as if there was a film on your face. I really hated that.
Deep Nourishing Toner

Pros: Hot! This toner does not contain alcohol which is a big plus for me! Its hydrates without stripping. It also does not feel as if you're leaving a film of product on your face. Best used with cotton. But can also be used with bare hands patted on or poured into a spritzer bottle and sprayed on. No funky odour. Suitable for all skin types.

Cons: None

Radiant Youth Essence

Pros: It truly hydrates the skin. Takes a good week to see results for me. Skin became more radiant and less dull. This product has an oily feeling when you first apply it. Takes about a minute for your skin to fully absorb the product. Once absorbed you no longer have an oily feeling on your skin but instead the skin feels plump!

Recommendation:
Its suitable for all skin types dry, oily, sensitive, acne, etc. I've tested it out on all types of skin. But I would recommend different use for each type.

dry: one full pump day and night
acne/oily/oily with acne: half pump night only
dry with acne: half pump day and night

Cons: Face becomes shiny on oily to normal skin after an hour of use. The face becomes shiny even if you remain in an air conditioned room. I don't recommend oily to normal skin users to use it during the day.
Face Lifting Cream

Pros: Super Sizzling Hot! Just a penny or RM 0.05 cent coin size will do the trick for the whole face. Use a little on the top of your face and the majority on your cheeks and under-chin area. You can see a slight deference with just a single use. At the Bio-essence event I was told that the biggest difference in Malaysia/Singapore for a single use is about 14 degree angle.

Not so for me. I just had a 2 degree minimization with a single use. Yup.. you got it, its just a slight difference. You can see a shadow of a contour on the cheeks and my chin is not so rounded.

no makeup on my face (just eyes)

But with religious use day and night for 14 days.... hehehe
my V-Shape face

I have my chin back! and my cheeks are slimmer.

When you smooth the cream on your face there is a slight burning sensation and I'm glad to report that even with my sensitive skin  that my skin did not itch or turn red. But the burning sensation is present each time I use it (even after 14 days). But its not as bad as having mint on your face.

Caution: because there is a burning sensation, please do not use it near your eye area, near for nostrils (lubang hidung) and too close to your lips. It really irritates those areas where the skin is thinner and more delicate.

Suitable for all skin but especially so for dry skin.

Cons: When you use this product and notice that it does work please do NOT be tempted to use MORE product on your face hoping that it will give you a more dramatic or bigger result.

What you will give yourself when do you that is not a slimmer face but breakouts!

Excessive use causes breakout/pimple/acne

Etude House : Precious Mineral Any Cushion with SPF 50+/PA++ [REVIEW, VIDEO]

Hi my lovelies, both guys and girls,

I was offered a lovely opportunity by Etude House to review and test out one of their new product! The  Precious Mineral Any Cushion Foundation with SPF 50+/PA++

Now before we go on I want to make it clear to all my dear readers that I was not paid to do this review. This item was given to me to try and write about it, good or bad. My opinions and judgement on this product are my own and is not influenced in any way.

Now...let get on to Any Cushion

WHAT was the Idea?

Precious Mineral Any Cushion is a easy, fast, perfect anytime anywhere makeup that provides a satin finish while keeping moist inside.

WHAT is the Concept?

Facts:

Hyaluronic Acid : allows deep moisturising and watery texture to the skin

Sebum Control Powder: prevents greasy skin

Pearl Powder : has niacin amide which is effective for whitening and makes skin clean and clear.

Benefits:

Unique to Etude House's Any Cushion, the product uses a optimal holder called "foaming urethane foam". What is this? Well its the sponge in the compact that releases the foundation. The formula is patented will not separate and will evenly spread in the pores through micro-fine distribution. The container is also air tight.

Any Cushion Foundation comes with a unique air puff.

Which allows for thin and perfect application. It also minimises the absorption of product into the puff which prevents wastage of product and keeps it clean longer. Its made of Rubycell and Polyurethane.

How to use the air puff?

  1. Coat the puff with product by lightly pressing the puff into the sponge. Imagine lightly "stamping" your face.
  2. Use light patting motions across the face (do not rub or buff the product into your face).
  3. Start at larger areas such as cheeks and forehead.
  4. Then move to smaller sections of the face such as chin and nose.
  5. For areas that need more coverage go back and lightly "stamp" over the area again until ideal coverage is achieved.
  6. Want it sheerer? Soak the puff in water or spray with a water mist before using.
How to Clean the Puff?
I will You can use brush cleaners (that do not contain alcohol) or mild detergent to wash. Make sure the puff is completely dry before reusing.

What I observe with the product... tried and tested.

BEFORE

AFTER

I know... I know... I look a bit crazy here...
I'm sorry but this is the only picture :'(
PROS:
  1. It's easy to carry, apply and reapply.
  2. Great for beginners in Makeup!
  3. Not cakey when you reapply and fast too.
  4. Its 2 in 1. Both foundation and sunscreen (sunblock)
  5. It gives a soft satin finish
  6. Its smooth and flawless
  7. It feels light weight on the face even though I did apply a fair to thick amount in certain areas to cover my pimple scars.
  8. Its non drying. My face didn't feel like it was drying out even though I applied it on at 10am in the morning and had it on my face to 9pm at night.
  9. Staying power!
  10. No transfers! I use an iPhone and had to answer the phone several times a day. Very minimal to no transfer to the screen at all! LOVE that ^_^ (can't tell you how much I hate wiping my phone off [from the foundation] after using it every-time.
  11. About a months worth of product if used daily and regularly.
  12. Must be kept completely closed to avoid the product drying out.
  13. Great for skin that gets red easily, it has that cooling effect.
CONS:
  1. Not in my colour... I look so white! (but darn it I love everything about it otherwise)
  2. No refills available in Malaysia at the moment even though its a refillable type.

Available in:

Natural Beige

Honey Beige

My skin type is oily to combination with a little acne. So I would suggest the following only if you have any troubles:

OILY
A light dusting of loose powder to set for oily skin.

ACNE
Just patting with a tissue for acne skin.
DRY
Spraying a facial mist before or after (or both) applying Any Cushion Foundation.
RED SKIN OR "BLUSHING SKIN"
You don't need it. ^o^

O'slee Pomegranate Milky Mask, Smart Natural Beauty [REVIEW, VIDEO]

O'slee Pomegranate Milky Mask Review and How to use Video!

What is it? Well its a Whitening and Anti-Aging Mask and as the name indicates the main ingredient in this mask is Pomegranate and milk.

What are the benefits of Pomegranate?
It contains:

  • Ellagic Acid that promotes whitening
  • The Pomegranate Polyphenol is an antioxidant
  • The plant hormones it contains has anti-aging properties.
  • Rich in Vitamin C which is a whitening agent and antioxidant

Why is this so great?
Pomegranate is one of nature's fruit that is able to combat harmful free radicals and hence protects the skin against it as well as prevent skin from oxidation and aging.

Now... What is Free Radical?
Well the human skin (us) is contantly exposed to either air, environmental pollutants, solar radiation and other mechanical and chemical agents. All of which are capable inducing the generation of free radicals in us. Above that our outer skin can also be damaged by other factors such as physical and psychological stress, alcohol intake, poor nutrition, overeating, pollution, UV rays and the list goes on.

Sounds good huh?

Well now, let go on to this product I tested shall we?

What is claims

It has antioxidants. (Did you know pomegranate has 3x more antioxidant than green tea?).  It whitens, the milk extracts added into the mask nourishes and moisturises the skin as well as lightens pigmentation. The skin becomes smooth and white after use. Moisturising, it also contains Hyaluronic Acid which can deeply hydrate the skin so that it boosts the elasticity of the skin. Firms, it promotes collegen production so that the skin can becomes firm with refines pores and Deep Cleansing with kaolin which pulls oil and dirt out of the skin leaving it clean and clear.

What does it comes with?
100 ml/3.50 fl oz of product per jar. It also comes with a spatula and cleansing sponge.

How to use or My directions of use ^_^

(Psst: My picture frenzy moment lol @_@ yeah... on hindsight it looks cheesy)

  • Watch my video; or
  • use 2-3 times a week
  • Only apply after thoroughly cleansing your face so its free of make-up and dirt.
  • Make sure to apply a thick layer on your face and neck.
  • Rinse after 10-15 minutes.
  • Use the cleansing sponge to rinse for better and through cleansing.
** Caution: Use the spatula to scoop out the product you need and immediate close it back. Avoid water getting into the unused jar of mask.

My thoughts/ Review

The pigmentation from my pimple scars have lightened

Pros:
I love it! Can I say more? This product is perfect for those with oily or combination skin. I'm not sure for severe acne but one of the times I tried the mask out I had some breakout and it did not sting at all. (Love that! Can't tell you how put off I am when I try to use something when I have breakout and it hurts like hell.)

Did it do what it claimed?
Yes. My face did feel a lot softer after use and super smooth. This feeling lasted for a good 6 hours after every use.

The skin did feel somewhat firmer. It might be more prominent after prolonged use. It also felt really clean. I would say its deep cleansing properties really did its job. It deep cleanse my face without stripping it. (you know that pulling sensation on your face after a wash? did not happen.. ^_^)

Did it lighten my skin pigmentation? Yes. This is not a (BAD for you) mask where it contains chemicals that bleach your skin and suddenly your a skin tone lighter. But instead its a GOOD one. It lightens pigmentation caused by sun and by pimple scar using ingredients such as Pomegranate and Milk. After several use my pigmentations did lighten.

All in all worth the money spent.

Cons:
It moisturised but it did not give that plump hydrated feeling that I would expect the hyaluronic acid to give. I don't think this mask will be suitable for those with dry to very dry skin.

4/5

Vanity Trove: Avene Event and Review ! [EVENT, SHOW and TELL, REVIEW]

Hi everyone,

This is going to be a more upbeat post about Avene Workshop that I attended.

But before I tell you about what Avene is, I think you should watch this video.

Avene is actually a region in France and as far as I know all of its products contains Avene Thermal Spring Water.

Now... some facts you did not know about Avene

  1. Each can of Avene Thermal Spring Water contains only the actual Thermal Spring Water from Avene and carbon dioxide.
  2.  The canister (or can) containing Avene Thermal Spring Water is specially made so that the mist released are very fine.
  3. In 1891 Avene Thermal Spring Water was used as treatment of severe burns after the Great Fire of Chicago in the United States.
  4. The Avene company has a  Hydrotherapy Centre in Avene which every year from April to October welcomes more than 2600 patients and provides exclusive medically-controlled treatments which treats complaints such as atopic dermatitis, chronic eczema, proriasis, burns, scarring problems and treatment after plastic or reconstructive surgery to name a few.
  5. Avene Thermal Spring Water can be used for sunburn, rashes, eczema, after surgery (even lazer surgery), to set makeup, itching, burns and wounds.

PHEW... that was a mouth full and its only the tip of the iceberg.

AVENE WORKSHOP

The workshop was conducted on one sunny morning at an Italian Restaurant and Cafe called Cafe Barbera @ No.8, Lorong Maarof, 59000 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The place was trendy and large and oh... does it serve a smooth cup of luxurious cappuccino.

There were tons of Avene product to see at this workshop

And lastly... my new found product worship....

Eau Thermale Avene
(or to us mere mortals.. Avene Thermal Spring Water)

Bloggers invited to this workshop were offered to have a hands on experience with Avene products.

We each had a bowl, sponge, water and a set of products to use.

These were the products that I got a chance to try.

Participants in the mist of trying out the products and taking note

My table's participants... including me!

PS: I tried taking a video at this event but it didn't turn out alright so this post will not have a video.

I was so impressed by the Avene products that I got to try out that I was ready to go out and purchase some that particularly caught my eye.

But at the end of this event I received a suprise! All the partipants got receive a customized Avene Box from Vanity Trove Malaysia! Each box has a mix of products that suits the participants skin be i t oily, dry, dehydrated, combination or acne.

Dear Readers, I have to tell you..

I am now a convert and am absolutely, 100% in LOVE with Avene Thermal Spring Water! I've tried it out in every way possible. On cuts, bruises, inflammation,  puffy eyes (yes puffy eyes... I used it a lot when my grandmother passed away)

My face and eyes for some reason looks like it got punch and is super puffy. (I look like a blowfish or got sting by a bee)

But during the time that I used Avene Thermal Spring Water what you see in the picture above for once did not happen!!! I looked normal!

I also used the spray for other inflammations and pimples on my face.

After 2 weeks of daily use, using only Avene Products...

The Review:

What are my other favorites from the box?
Well second to the Avene Thermal Spring Water, I really really love the Gentle Gel Cleanser and Micellar lotion.

Avene Thermal Spring Water
So in love with this. This is in all of Avene's products and the one I love the most. More details above. Nothing bad to say and everything good. A super plus for adding it to my daily routine permanently (most likely forever) ^_^

Cost: Avène Thermal Spring Water
50ml spray….. RM 19.00
150ml spray….. RM 39.00

300ml spray….. RM 55.00

Gentle Gel Cleanser
This product is non sticky and if you have a non-sensitive face and do not use makeup of any kind (including sunblock) then this would be the only product you could possibly need for cleansing. After wash it does not leave the face feeling dry.

Micellar lotion
This is essentially a makeup remover. It removes light mascara even though its waterproof. (remember light mascara. It would not remove the heavy duty type mascara). This product works best if you only have light makeup on. At the event, for my foundation I needed nearly half the bottle (that is a whopping 20ml) to remove my makeup and 12 square pieces of cotton. However if you're willing to shell out the money then this product would be the best because even though I used so much product and took some time to completely remove my makeup it did not irritate my face during the process nor did my face show any signs of irritation after.

What about the other 2 products?
Well the Clearance series did work but only minimally compared to the others products I tested. However it has come to my attention that Avene has a stronger product in their line that better treats acne and a scar cream.

However this line can only be purchased through a dermatologist in Malaysia. I'm trying to see if I can find out which dermatologist carry this product. If any of you know where I can get it do let me know in the comment box below.

A quick look on the Avene products I received again:

This is the list of product to get to suit your skin type:
Please save this picture if you want to closely look at it. I'm hoping to get a download link installed if I can.

Alright readers, that's all for this post, hope you liked it. Please let me know in the comments if any of you have tried out any products.

PS: Do stay tuned for a more through review of individual Avene Products.
